Three Oculus magazine covers

Architectural education is being reshaped by new technologies, changing forms of practice, and a broader understanding of where and how learning happens. As AI and digital tools permeate classroom learning, educators are reconsidering what students need to know, what should still be taught by hand, and how professional acumen develops in an age of increasingly powerful software.

The Winter 2027 issue of Oculus invites shorter opinion pieces or anecdotes (200–400 words) that examine how architectural education could or should adapt to the profession students are entering now.

What should architecture schools start teaching, stop teaching, or teach differently? What lessons are being learned outside the classroom? What do educators, practitioners, students, clients, and technology developers think is missing from architectural education today?

Rather than comprehensive essays, we’re looking for concise perspectives that can spark conversation.

Please submit opinion pieces to [email protected] by November 17.
