Gia Wolff, designer and instructor at the Cooper Union and Pratt Institute, has won the inaugural Wheelright Prize, a traveling fellowship recently reintroduced by the Harvard University Graduate School of Design…The Russel Wright Design Center honored David Rockwell, AIA, with the Russel Wright Award for his recent work in the Hudson Valley.

ArtPlace America awarded grants to five New York City organizations: AIGA/NY ($200,000) for its Design/Relief charrettes, lectures and workshops; Creative Time ($275,000) for its exhibition and programming of My City is a Dream Machine; The Trust for Governors Island ($200,000 for its Public Art Commissioning Program; Artist Build Collaborative ($33,000) to build and install an interactive light installation; Time Square Alliance ($250,000) for its Time Square Transformation initiative; and the Town of Prattsville ($200,000) for the Prattsville Art Center and Residency program.

The New York-based Center for Urban Pedagogy and The International Coalition of Sites of Conscience are two of the three winners of ADSPR’s 2013 Lewis Mumford Award…The Tenth Emirates Glass LEAF Awards 2013 shortlist includes Steven Holl Architects’ Sliced Porossity Block (Mixed-Use Building of the Year; AIANY 2013 Design Award winner), and Rockwell Group’s MiMA (International Interior Design Award)

The 2013 Building Brooklyn Awards will be presented on 06.10.13 to the following projects: Wythe Hotel (Morris Adjmi Architects), BAM Fisher (H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture), Kensington Library (Sen Architects), Gilbert Rivera Pavilion/Maimonides Breast Cancer Center (Daniel Schunkewitz Architect and Murray Associates Architect), Barclays Center (Ellerbe Becket/AECOM and SHoP Architects), Pitkin Theater Center (Kitchen & Associates), Brooklyn Bridge Park (Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates), Brooklyn Botanic Garden Visitor Center (Weiss/Manfredi), City Point (COOKFOX and Greenberg Farrow Architects), The Hegeman (COOKFOX), and Subtractive House (Bade Stageburg Cox).

NYC’s Battery Conservancy and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation announced the top 50 designs of The Battery Conservancy Americas Design Competition “Draw Up A Chair,” which includes New York-based designers Matthew Calvey, FJA Architecture, Group Han Associates, Ed Kopel Architects, Jaklitsch/Gardner Architects, Noa Younse, and aO Architects.

Fast Company placed Peter Marino, FAIA, at #60 on its 100 Most Creative People in Business 2013 list.

Helen Mui and Brian Dowd will join Donald Blair as principals of the newly-formed firm Blair + Mui Dowd Architects.

Filippo Soave, LEED AP, was promoted to Associate Principal at Perkins+Will New York, while Steven South, IIDA, LEED AP, and Ted Shaw, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, were promoted to Senior Associates…

Francis Cauffman appointed Michael Bonomo, IIDA and NCIDQ, as Principal of Interior Environments.
