AIA New York’s Nominating Committee is the chapter’s governing body for appointments to its Elective Committees: Design Awards, Fellows, Honors, Oculus, Finance, and Scholarships. The Elective Committees hold the distinction of shaping AIANY’s awards recipients, editorial content, and in many ways steering the future of the organization and the expression of its values.

The Nominating Committee is itself an elected body that submits the elective slate to the Board of Directors and to membership for vote at the Annual Meeting. The Nominating Committee meets monthly to consider recommended candidates and self-referrals for terms starting the following year. The committee includes five members: four are elected by the chapter members; the fifth is the Immediate Past President.

We are pleased to introduce the following appointments for 2025:

For over 40 years, Alissa Bucher, AIA, has practiced architecture in New York City.  She has followed her passion for design to work in a variety of offices and on a broad range of projects, from museums and large government buildings to institutional and residential projects. Her work is distinguished by a modern sensibility that is balanced and elegant. She believes that one’s experience of architecture is inevitably subjective and often ephemeral, and she endeavors to create environments where the user feels effortlessly accommodated to the purpose of a space, no matter the size or function.  She has taught both Architecture and Interior Design and enjoys working at the intersection of those disciplines. Alissa grew up in New York and received a BArch degree from Cornell University. She currently co-leads Rogers Partners Architects with her husband and partner, Rob Rogers.

Sameer Kumar, FAIA, NOMA, is the Founder of Techne, a building enclosure design and consulting firm based in New York. With over 23 years of experience in the field of architectural facades, Sameer’s accomplishments represent a consistent pursuit of design excellence through the balance of craft and environmental performance in a wide variety of material expressions on several prominent projects around the globe. Sameer extends his contributions to the architecture profession through his academic engagement as visiting faculty member with Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as through active participation in various architectural conferences as speaker and panelist. Sameer is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He is a licensed architect in the State of New York. He holds degrees in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and CEPT University, Ahmedabad.

Brynnemarie Lanciotti, AIA, is a Principal at Union Street Studio Architects, PLLC, a practice oriented to small- and medium-scale projects in the residential and commercial sector.  Brynnemarie was awarded the AIA Young Architect Award in 2020. She has dedicated her career to professional and leadership development and is continuously recognized for her contributions to the future of the profession since first receiving the Alpha Rho Chi Medal in 2005. Brynnemarie was Co-Chair of the Emerging New York Architects Committee (ENYA) in 2011-2012, launching the FutureNOW Summit, an interactive dialogue about the role of emerging architects in the profession, exploring issues around cities, technology and the future of our profession. Licensed in 2013, Brynnemarie was recognized for her exemplary leadership by the AIA New York Chapter ENYA Merit Award and continued on to serve the Institute through her leadership initiatives, including co-founding the the AIANY’s Civic Leadership Program (CLP) in 2017 and launched the (ENYA) TORCH Mentorship Program at the New York Chapter.

From 2004 to 2014, Faith directed New York City’s Design Excellence Program at the Department of Design and Construction under the Bloomberg Administration. In 2014, Mayor de Blasio appointed Faith Executive Director of New York City’s Public Design Commission. Prior to her work with the City, Faith worked for six years within the field of residential architecture.
