AIA New York, along with the AIANY Emerging New York Architects Committee, are now accepting applications for the 2018 AIANY Civic Leadership Program (CLP).

Now in its second year, CLP continues its mission to cultivate a class of emerging architecture professionals into civic leaders. Through a six-month mentorship and training program, ten selected participants will develop the ability to engage in the civic process as designers. CLP provides opportunities to interface with municipal agencies, community development organizations, and local stakeholders in development sessions and public events.

The program will consist of five development sessions, four team building sessions, and two public events to build a framework for engaging with the public realm. At the program’s onset, the ten participants will be paired off to plan and host one of the monthly development sessions and help develop content for one of the two public events. Each development session will include a supplemental training or information seminar led by advisers. Session topics may include public interest design, land use and public space, community engagement and relations, public development and infrastructure, and sustainability and resilience. Participants will earn 32 CEUs during the course of the program.

The deadline to submit applications HAS BEEN EXTENDED to Monday, May 7, 2018, 11:59 PM. CLP is open to all AIA chapter members and membership titles. Applicants must be AIA members and work/study in the design profession. Access the application here.
