The AIANY Historic Buildings Committee, led by co-chairs John S. Arbuckle, Assoc. AIA, and Caterina Roiatti, AIA, organized a sold-out tour of the historic Park Avenue Armory. The guides included Kirsten Reoch, Senior Project Director at the Armory, Lissa Frenkel, Project Director of Design and Planning at the Armory, Sara Jacinto, a Project Designer at Herzog & de Meuron US, Brigitte Cook, AIA, LEED AP, a Project Architect at Platt Byard Dovell White Architects, and Eytan Solomon, a Senior Engineer at Robert Silman Associates.

05.01.12: Dr. Ghada Al-Slik, Professor, Department of Architecture, College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, presented a lecture on Baghdad’s architectural history. A panel discussion followed, featuring Iraqi architect Hisham Munir, and Janon Kadhim, Ph.D., Assoc. AIA, Associate Professor of Architecture and Architectural History and Heritage, formerly of the University of Baghdad.

AIANY and the Center for Architecture Foundation (CFAF) organized a special exhibition tour of “City of Mirages: Baghdad, 1952-1982” and “CHANGE: Architecture & Engineering in the Middle East, 2000-Present” for VIP guests of the first Frieze Art Fair NYC. CFAF Lead Design Educator Tim Hayduk (center) led the informative, engaging private tour for Frieze guests from around the world, including participants pictured here from the United Kingdom and Japan.
