The NYC Department of Transportation’s Street Design Manual is a comprehensive outline of street design standards, guidelines, and policies for New York City. The first edition was released in May 2009. The second edition, released in October 2013 and revised in January 2016, was updated based on feedback from users. Now, DOT is working on its third version of the Street Design Manual.
As part of the information-intake phase, DOT has created a survey for those whose work is directly relevant to the manual’s content. Once DOT collects responses, conducts interviews, and processes information, it will begin work on the third edition’s content with a group of industry stakeholders.

The AIA curriculum is set to be implemented next year, and will include policy and practice-focused resources on AIA.org research, and training. The AIA will also enhance access to resilient design resources by expanding its existing professional and academic resilience network. Along with the report, the Resilience Building Coalition released a set of guiding principles to help the building industry adopt resilient design and policies.
