Malcolm McLaren, founder of McLaren Engineering, receives proclamation from AIANY and Center for Architecture Executive Director Benjamin Prosky, Assoc. AIA.

On 03.28.17, AIA New York presented a proclamation to Malcolm McLaren and McLaren Engineering in celebration of the firm’s 40th anniversary.

Founded in 1977, the firm’s portfolio includes over 14,000 projects encompassing concept, design, construction management, and inspection in divisions ranging from marine, civil, building structure, waterborne transportation, and entertainment.

A true innovator, McLaren pioneered the concept of professional engineer in the 1970s. His firm has transformed NYC’s waterfronts, improving over 300 miles of NYC’s coastline and helping create New York Harbor’s ferry transit system. McLaren is also widely recognized for his entertainment work, conceiving and developing world-renowned projects that have enlivened New York City, including the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang flying car and Broadway’s Lion King Pride Rock.
