On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, AIA New York hosted its 159th Annual Meeting, where members elected 2027 leadership and celebrated recent Chapter achievements and award recipients. The evening is not only an opportunity for reflection and planning as an organization, but a touchpoint for community members and leaders to gather, reconnect, and be recognized.

After presenting on the state of the Chapter, from program initiatives and advocacy to its financial health and membership, 2026 President Mark Gardner, AIA, NOMA turned over the podium to Board Secretary Kirsten Sibilia, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, who presented the work of the nominating committee and the 2027 Board of Directors and Elective Committee slate. Present AIANY members confirmed the 2027 slate without delay, which includes incoming 2027 President Hana Kassem, FAIA, NOMA, and First Vice President/President-Elect Peter Miller, AIA, LEED AP.

The Annual Meeting also served as a significant opportunity to recognize members of the architecture and design community for their local and regional contributions. Congratulations to all of the 2027 awardees:

  • Leadership in Housing Award: Kirk Goodrich, President, Monadnock Development
  • Public Architect Award: Thomas L. Grassi, FAIA, NCARB, Project Director, HNTB
  • Service to the Institute: TORCH Mentorship Program
  • Service to the City: Riders Alliance
  • Special Citation: Street Vendor Project

We congratulate incoming board and elective committee members and look forward to celebrating with you all at the 2027 Board Inaugural in December!
