New Hires and Promotions
Dattner Architects has announced the promotion of nine of its professionals: Deniz Secilmis, AIA, LEED AP, CPHD, Luis Morales, AIA, NCARB, Daniel Cohen, AIA, LEED AP, Nathaniel Rogers, AIA, and Michael Hackspill, AIA, have been promoted to Associate. Kristy Phillips, AIA, Gustavo Munoz, AIA, Matthew Barlow, and Harriet Andronikides, AIA, are now Senior Associates.
Christopher Korsh, AIA, has joined Gensler as a Healthcare Practice Leader in its New York office. Korsh brings more than 25 years of experience advising health systems and institutions on complex capital projects, with a focus on aligning design outcomes with clinical performance, long-term flexibility and operational efficiency.
Honors and Awards
The American Society of Landscape Architects has unveiled its class of 2025 Honor recipients. Selected by the ASLA’s Board of Trustees, the individuals and firms “represent the most noteworthy professionals nationwide,” according to the society. This year’s honorees include Michael Van Valkenburgh, FASLA, PLA, Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc., who was awarded the ASLA Medal; Matthew Potteiger, ASLA, SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry, awarded the Community Service Award; and SCAPE which received the Landscape Architecture Firm Award.
On Friday, June 13, JSA/MIXdesign Principal Joel Sanders, FAIA, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland. This distinguished award recognizes Sanders’ impact on the field of inclusive design and acknowledges his past involvement with Aalto University, consisting of collaborative design studios centered on the spatial implications of social justice. As part of the program, Sanders participated in a panel where he and the other honorary doctors held a discussion addressing the theme of this year’s event, “Species.”
Hoffmann Architects + Engineers has announced Christopher Chung, a rising second-year student pursuing a Master of Architecture degree at Yale University, as the recipient of its 2025 Hoffmann Diversity Advancement Scholarship. Established in 2022 and offered in partnership with the Connecticut Architectural Foundation (CAF), the Hoffmann Scholarship supports talented students seeking degrees in architecture or engineering who identify as part of an underrepresented minority group.
NBBJ has been named by TIME as one of its 100 most influential companies, particularly for pioneering the largest prefabricated healthcare building initiative in the country.
The Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS NYC) is honoring Elizabeth Diller of Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Annabelle Selldorf, FAIA, of Selldorf Architects with the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (JKO) Medal. The two will be recognized for their contributions to the cultural and civic fabric of New York City on Monday, October 6, at the landmarked Seagram Building.
In Memoriam
Author, architect, and preservation activist Nathan Silver was best known for his 1967 book, Lost New York, which documented great New York City landmarks and architecture that had disappeared. Silver passed away on May 19, 2025.
