New Hires and Promotions
The Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) has appointed Professor Winka Dubbeldam as its next Director and CEO. The Dutch architect, educator, and innovator will assume the role on September 1, 2025.
Raymond Bordwell, FAIA, has been appointed co-chair of the newly launched “Forum” subcommittee of the AIA’s Committee on Architecture for Education. This national group is focused on organizing and curating webinars and other events with guest speakers from a variety of perspectives, both inside and outside of the profession. The Forum will create an opportunity for educators and designers to collaborate and disseminate knowledge to foster innovation in meeting the needs of contemporary educational facilities.
Perkins&Will has appointed Joelle Jefcoat—a licensed architect and attorney with more than two decades at the firm—has been promoted to Chief Legal Officer. She will oversee legal operations across a global network of studios, succeeding Brodie Stephens, their first in‑house attorney and top legal advisor for the past 19 years—who will step into the role of Regional General Counsel for Western North America.
Hoffmann Architects + Engineers has announced the promotions of four senior leaders who oversee the firm’s technical staff, of whom two work in New York: Juan Kuriyama, AIA, will lead Hoffmann’s New York office; Larry Keenan, AIA, PE will direct technical services firm-wide and provide quality assurance. The firm also announced that Kristen Anderson, AIA, has been promoted to Senior Staff Architect. Anderson joined Hoffmann’s New York team in 2019 after completing a B.Arch. degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and she earned several promotions in succession in recognition of her contributions. In 2023, she gained licensure as an architect and continued to take on additional project management responsibilities, and she was invited to become a shareholder of the firm in 2024.
Honors and Awards
Writer and critic Alexandra Lange has won the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for Criticism. The CityLab and New Yorker contributor is recognized for her insightful writing on design, cities, neurodiverse spaces, skate gardens, swingsets, and more—including her acclaimed 2022 book on America’s dead malls.
The Architectural League announced the winners of Plot, the 44th cycle of its biennial Architectural League Prize for Young Architects + Designers. Among those lauded was IPA Residency Director, Deborah Garcia.
Socrates Sculpture Park is holding its 2025 Gala, honoring LOT-EK (Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano), on June 5 at Spacetime CC, sculptor Mark di Suvero’s waterfront studio in Long Island City, NY.
The James Lenox House Association (JLHA), comprised of James Lenox House and Carnegie East House, New York City’s not-for-profit independent and enriched living communities for older adults, hosted nearly 700 guests at its Spring Blossoms Gala in April. Held at The Plaza Hotel, the gala included a live and silent auction, which helped to raise more than $1 million for the communities. James G. Phillips, AIA, Founder and Managing Executive of TPG Architecture, and Joseph P. Romano, Chief Executive Officer of JRM Construction Management were co-recipients of the 2025 Mary Lenox Sheafe Award.
