Over the course of the next month, AIA New York will identify its delegates for the AIA National Annual Meeting. Delegates, who are selected by the AIANY Board of Directors, attend the Annual Meeting and cast votes on behalf of the chapter to elect AIA National board members.

The 2023 Annual Meeting and board vote will take place in-person only at the AIA Conference in San Francisco.  Typically, AIANY has had between three to five delegates at the meeting. 2023 Chapter President Matt Bremer, AIA, and/or President Elect Gregory Switzer, AIA, NOMA, NCARB, will serve as two of the chapter’s delegates unless they are unavailable. AIANY does not cover the costs of delegates attending A’23.

Delegates will be expected to attend meetings in advance of A’23 to hear from candidates and review resolutions with other chapters in New York State; in addition, there will be a regional caucus at the conference that delegates will have to attend. View the schedule of meetings and required responsibilities delegate are expected to fulfill.

Qualified candidates should be able to attend the run-up and A’23 meetings, have a good knowledge of AIA National’s structure and strategic goals, and be willing to collaborate with other chapter delegates. AIANY will host an information meeting about the role on Friday, April 21, 9-10 am.

You can circulate delegate responsibilities to qualified individuals you believe may be interested and/or express your own desire to serve.Interested parties should reach out to Suzanne Mecs, smecs@aiany.org, by April 24, 6 pm, and submit a statement of interest that addresses why they would like to serve and confirms that they will be in San Francisco and available for all the roles that delegates fill.

We anticipate making delegate selections in May.
