The AIANY Architecture for Justice Committee is seeking a new co-chair following the upcoming departure of Brett Firfer, AIA, this September.

The committee holds engaging meetings and programs on the design and construction of public buildings that serve the US justice system and has recently focused much attention on designing a more humane approach to incarceration following the Mayor’s plan to close the Rikers Island Jail complex. Recent events include “Justice by Design: Transitioning to Borough-Based Justice Facilities,” “Mental Health in Justice Facilities,” and “The Future of NYC Jails.”

Interested AIA members can apply by sending a copy of their CV and a 250-word cover letter outlining their interest in the committee, why they feel suited to lead it, and in what direction they hope to take it, to Joseph Corbin, jcorbin@aiany.org. The deadline for applying is Wednesday, August 28.
