AIANY Program Committees are the foundations from which the chapter positions itself in the field of architecture. Whether through discussion, advocacy, policy making and development, or other endeavors, committees initiate the majority of the chapter’s programs and are the main avenue for direct involvement with AIA New York. Preferred co-chair candidates will have shown strong involvement with the committee, a commitment to the committee’s goals, a clear vision for the future of the committee, and good communication and management skills.

The LGBTQIA+ Alliance advocates for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, plus other sexual and gender marginalized communities within the architecture profession by creating space to build community, host events and discussions, and foster diversity and inclusion within our profession and organization, both in the city and state of New York. Applications must include a 250-word maximum letter of interest and CV sent to jcorbin@aiany.org with the subject line, “AIANY LGBTQIA+ Alliance Co-Chair Application.” Apply by May 22, 2024.

The Public Architecture Committee promotes research and dialogue on the full range of issues informing the programming, design, and execution of public spaces and institutional projects in New York City and overseas. Applications must include a 250-word maximum letter of interest and CV sent tojcorbin@aiany.org with the subject line, “AIANY Public Architecture Committee Co-Chair Application.” Apply by June 8, 2024.

The Cultural Facilities Committee is a forum for people interested in cultural spaces and how they shape our environment. Through a variety of programming the committee examines ideas related to the design and planning of cultural buildings, as well as their impact on the communities they serve. The vision of the committee is to enrich and broaden the insight of practitioners in the design field, foster an understanding among professionals working within cultural facilities, and demystify the development process for the public. Applications must include a 250-word maximum letter of interest and CV sent tojcorbin@aiany.org with the subject line, “AIANY Public Architecture Committee Co-Chair Application.” Apply by June 8, 2024.
