AIANY recommended changes to the City of Yes for Carbon Neutrality zoning text amendment proposal, specifically proposal 8 to “fix Zone Green,” to the City Planning Commission. Our recommendations were focused on technical changes that would have a meaningful impact on the feasibility of the ambitious targets outlined in the proposal. All three of our recommendations were made in the version of the text approved by the City Planning. We applaud DCP and CPC for their continued engagement on this issue and for working with practitioners to make sure City of Yes for Carbon Neutrality will have the desired impact on the environment and encourage more ultra-low energy buildings. AIANY supports the City Council in passing City of Yes for Carbon Neutrality, and we look forward to working with the Council to ensure that the proposal continues to push the envelope while remaining technically feasible. For more information on AIANY’s recommendations, see our recent testimony to the City Council Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises.
