Lead a Project
To get involved as a project leader, your architecture firm, company, or industry group will identify a worthy NYC nonprofit and project that needs to get done. You’ll put together a team, do site visits, have weekly coordination calls with AIA New York and any partners (you can work together with other design firms, general contractors, etc.), prepare the design, and help source the materials needed. AIA New York will be there to help the whole way. Together, we will decide on a project and scope that makes sense, schedule any prep work, and get additional volunteers on site for Day of Service! All firms, partners, and donors will be acknowledged on our website, volunteer t-shirts, and at a reception to be held the following week.
Join a Team
Team up with one or more of the architecture firms to help make the design a reality! We have been lucky to have had general contractors, carpenters, flooring installers, plumbers, electricians, laborers, painters, millworkers, and more on past projects. You can put the architects to work! We all roll up our sleeves on Day of Service, and it is a great way to meet designers, architects, and connect with nonprofit organizations around the city. Join for the reception to celebrate and learn more about all of the projects. All firms, partners, and donors will be acknowledged on our website, volunteer t-shirts, and at a reception to be held the following week.
Donate Materials or Sponsor a Project
Whether or not you can volunteer to help on the Day of Service, we are always looking for donations of materials and supplies to make for multiple successful projects. In the past we have received paint, painting supplies, cabinets, countertops, appliances, light fixtures, lumber, hardware, flooring, wall covering, ceiling tile, planters, plants, soil, sealants, etc. The materials needed will depend on the final project design scopes, but please reach out if you are willing to donate or help to fund any of these. All firms, partners, and donors will be acknowledged on our website, volunteer t-shirts, and at a reception to be held the following week.
Volunteer for Day of Service
If you would like to help on Day of Service itself, volunteer signup begins in early spring , when you’ll be able to register and select a project. You will be given more instructions about a week beforehand about what to expect, timing, and what to wear. AIA New York will supply t-shirts and lunch for all volunteers!
