This public restroom building was designed for NYC Parks as a pilot project utilizing a modular construction method for a more cost and time efficient project delivery for NYC Parks. The programatic requirement for the project were based on the current NYC Parks Standard Public Restroom Design for conventionally constructed public restrooms with two bathroom spaces and one maintenance and operation space. Based on extensive research about the industry of typical modular construction and the critical drivers of modular design, a design with optimized sized modules was developed to enable city wide delivery and installation. This modular design was reviewed and approved by the NYC Public Design Comission for any other locations through the boroughs of New York City. The coloration of the Public Restroom's thin brick cladding shall be adjusted and tailored to the neighborhood and community it serves. The modular design provides a viable path forward to expand the public restroom supply quickly and affordably.
