May 2, 2019Digitial Design Community Event – 5/9
The New York Digital Design Community is a forum that focuses on showcasing technology-driven design by leading New York individuals, practices and universities. It is dedicated to disseminating the application of cutting-edge design methodologies and fabrication techniques related to digital technologies, computation, and digital prototyping in a collegial setting. In a series of quarterly events, design leaders from multiple industries showcase their most current and stimulating work at a variety of scales and stages of design. These gatherings bring together individuals from across the field who are in the forefront of developments in digital design, establishing a platform for those who are actively shaping a new profile for their industries and raising the bar for methods of practice in the future.
In this installment of the quarterly series, three practitioners from WeWork and SHoP Architects will showcase the various design methods and technologies that they employ in their workflow, highlighting their recent work on in-house design tooling and infrastructure, as well as visualization techniques in their practice, respectively.

Future of Practice
To assist the profession in proactively anticipating the impacts of new developments on the practice of architecture, AIA New York is reconstituting its former Technology and Professional Practice committees into the Future of Practice Committee. Launched in February 2021, this new committee will serve as a platform for discussion on topics that have relevance to what lies ahead for architecture and the profession. We welcome all individuals who are interested in joining and forming a new community built around the interests of its members.
