AIA New York Chapter and Center for Architecture Membership Categories Architect Member (AIA)* is for those licensed to practice architecture in U.S. State or Territory. Fellow
(FAIA)* is
for registered architect members of over 10 years who the National AIA
Jury of Fellows has honored for contributing
notably
to

Emeritus Members (can be AIA or FAIA)* are registered architects who have been AIA members for 15 successive years and are 60 years of age and fully retired or 70 years of age, or are incapacitated and unable to work in the profession. Associate Member (Assoc. AIA)* is for those who
International Associate Architect Member (Int'l Assoc. AIA)* is for those who hold an architecture license or equivalent from a non-U.S. Licensing authority. Center for Architecture Corporate Member (click here for a list of corporate members (PDF)) offers firms and organizations in industries related to architecture the opportunity to become local affiliates. Three affiliation levels are available, Aluminum, Steel and Platinum. Depending on the level, 2, 5 or 10 individuals in the firm are named to receive the benefits as Center for Architecture Professional Members. (Click here for a corporate member brochure.) Center for Architecture Professional Member offers individuals working in an allied profession such as construction, engineering, historic preservation, interior design, landscape design, law, product design/manufacturing, etc. the opportunity to become local affiliates. Center for Architecture Public Member offers architectural enthusiasts who do not work in the field the opportunity to become local affiliates. Center for Architecture Student Member offers those who are currently a full-time student of any accredited institution the opportunity to become local affiliates. AIAS members of Accredited Architecture Schools in New York State can have complimentary membership. Please use the application form here to apply; include a copy of your School ID with the returned application. The AIA New York Chapter is an active advocate at the city and state levels. Your membership in the AIA helps to bolster the design industry’s voice in the public arena. By participating in Lobby Day, testifying in a variety of public hearings, and interfacing with key elected officials and public agencies, the Chapter brings members' concerns and suggestions about design and construction issues to the table.
