A18 Event 1024x682
June 20-23, New York City

In 1857, thirteen architects met in New York to form an organization to promote architects and architecture. The AIA was born. Ten years later, the AIA held its first annual convention in New York. Don’t miss the event’s return to its birthplace! AIA New York and the Center for Architecture are planning dozens of tours and events that will bring you to every borough—by boat, bike, bus, subway, and on foot.

We’ll bring you to skyscrapers and storefronts, museums and manufacturing hubs, islands and tunnels, monuments, parks, and more. What better way to experience NYC than guided by local architects? See you in New York!

Please email Jesse Lazar, Deputy Director, AIANY, at jlazar@aiany.org.

Volunteering at A'18

As host chapter, AIA New York is looking for volunteers to help with tours, symposium check-in, and in various capacities throughout the conference.

If you would be interested in helping, please email us at a_18@aiany.org with a little information about yourself and your particular interests.

  • We need volunteers who have editorial/writing/research skills to help with the publication of the city guide; this work is happening now.
  • We need some people who would like to be trained as tour guides (those with a history background or experience as docents is preferred); we start guide training this spring.
  • We need volunteers to staff desks and to act as tour chaperones and check-in badge scanners. We can send you a link to sign up for these jobs.
  • AIANY is organizing a Day of Service during convention, which will bring volunteers to work for one day (Sat, June 23) at a homeless shelter. Email Kavitha Matthews to learn how to get involved: kmathew@aiany.org.
