HFC members have provided an unflagging commitment to committee activities, and there has emerged a rejuvenated committee status with increased engagement by a steering committee that has planned programs for 2012-2013 and energized New York Healthcare Facility professional participation. The committee organizes 6-8 monthly meetings and field trips each year with attendances often totaling 80 people including not only AIA members, but hospital administrators and related healthcare facility vendors and construction executives as well. The committee attempts to provide a benefit to its groups in the following ways:
-An opportunity for advanced continuing education credits, especially HSW credits, through programs.
-The ability to network with other members.
– Access to speakers who present new and best practices knowledge at committee events.
-Assurance of a high level of quality when retaining a member of AIANY HFC.
-An opportunity to distinguish one’s credentials from peers.
-A means of enhancing one’s ability to seek promotion and job mobiility in the healthcare field.
-The ability to tap into senior members’ resources.
-An opportunity to contribute new ideas for health facility planning, health promotion, sustainable design, and design and health.Sponsorship Opportunities
The Health Facilities Committee is currently interested in forming alliances with sponsors to help support its new program initiatives and increase its value proposition by introducing more multi-disciplinary speakers that will help in addressing the emerging challenges facing healthcare today.
Design for Health
The goal of the Design for Health Committee is to be an organizational voice for architects specializing in the field of healthcare, for prospective individuals looking to acquire knowledge, for allied professionals involved with the construction of health facilities, and for healthcare providers. Individuals will find opportunities in the emerging areas of health promotion, design and health, public health, sustainable design, and international projects. Long-standing programs on the guidelines for the planning, design, and construction of healthcare facilities, codes and regulations, specialty departmental planning, technology planning, and project delivery will continue to be offered.
