On September 9th, 2024, the AIANY Emerging New York Architects Committee (ENYA) proudly celebrated its 20th Anniversary at the Center for Architecture. The evening brought together past and present members, co-chairs, and supporters to commemorate two decades of career development programming, design excellence, and public outreach dedicated to emerging professionals in New York City.
What began as a small committee aimed at supporting young architects has since evolved into a vibrant platform for leadership and collaboration among emerging professionals and allied industries across the design and construction fields. The celebration offered an opportunity to reflect on ENYA’s impact: from mentoring new professionals to shaping conversations around the future of architecture and the built environment.
Throughout the evening, past co-chairs and members shared their memories, insights, and hopes for the future. Their stories highlighted ENYA’s spirit of innovation, community building, and commitment to the professional growth of emerging architects in New York. We extend our deepest gratitude to Burak Unel (‘19–Present), Tooba Jalal (‘22–’24), Kathryn Thiele (‘18–’22), Diksha Jain (‘21), Daniel Aronberg (‘18), Alex Alaimo (‘14–’15), Brynnemarie Lanciotti (‘11–’12), Venesa Alicea (‘10–’11), Megan Chusid (‘08–’09), Harry Gaveras (’04–’08), Susan Chin (‘05), and Joanna P. Emerging New York Architects
The AIANY Emerging New York Architects Committee (ENYA) encourages leadership among emerging architects (licensed 10 years or fewer) and allied professionals in the design and construction industry. We engage NYC’s diverse young professional community with an equally diverse slate of programming that focuses on career development, design excellence, and public outreach. Committee meetings are open to the public, and are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm, both virtually and in-person at the Center for Architecture, unless otherwise noted.
