AWARDS SUMMARY:    

The Groen Hoek Competition Exhibition opened to an overwhelming crowd at the New York Center for Architecture on Thursday evening February 5, 2004. All of the prize winners were in attendance to receive their prize from AIA New York Chapter President Mark E Ginsberg, AIA.

$5,000 was awarded to Horacio Flora, Andreas Bajuk, Alejandro Recoba, Pedro Calzavara, and Veronica Rossi from Mentevideo, Uruguay for First Prize.

$2,500 was awarded to Jonathan Brent and Mark Gorton from London, United Kingdom for Second Prize.

$1,000 was awarded to Christopher Pfiffner from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for Third Prize.

$1,000 was awarded to Mark Heaviland and Rick Mclain from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona for the Student Prize.

Additionally, eight Honorable Mentions were awarded to Alejandro Gonzalez from Miami, Florida; Christoph Groth from Venice, California; Jane Hutton from Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Joseph and Stacey Jattuso from Brooklyn, New York; Michael Levy, Sebastien Riendeau, and Philippe Nolet from Montreal, Quebec, Canada; Jennifer NIcholson, Zach Downey, Amrit Singh, John Zacherle, and Adam Jeckel from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia; Jack Ryan from Providence, Rhode Island; and Bjorn van Rheenen and Roland Pouw from SPONGE Architects in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
