Ellinger
is Clinical Professor of Architecture at Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute specializing in design technique
manifest through digital processes. He is writing a
book entitled Material Technique, which critiques the
nature of the architectural practice and presents a
multidisciplinary alternative driven by new methods
of production and manufacturing. Specifically, he is
researching responsive tectonic systems that allow for
change through adaptation both in material and design
as an evolutionary process of design. He uses the term
evolutionary in the sense that the built construct is
part of the process of becoming rather than a representation
of the design process. Mr. Ellinger holds a B.S. in
Architecture from The Ohio State University. He received
his Masters of Architecture from Columbia University
in 1997. Since 1997 he has established his own firm
Ellinger/Yehia Design.
