We thought the diverse world ought to be expressed as it is. What is the essence of universal design? We think it lurks inside diverse design rather than neutral design. Our aim is to represent the various universal worlds within reference to the historical character of Southpoint. Dual characteristics overlapped when searching for the whole image, as seen in the juxtaposition of: the old and new façades; the above-grade spaces and underground spaces; and the external space and the space contained between the old and new skins. Visitors could move around to experience this diverse world. We thought that the situation in which these various worlds coexisted was appropriate for a universal arts center program.
