MAY 2000 MEETING
MINUTES:
Approx. 65 persons
attended the two meetings we had this month touring the new technology
resources at the New York Public Library's Center for the Humanities and
the recently renovated Rose Reading Room. NYPL Senior Project Manager
Mark Hirsch was our tour guide through this wondrous facility as we focused
on getting information technology resources into this historic building.
We toured the facility
during nonpublic hours, and heard from Architects at Davis Brody Bond
and technology consulting firm Shen Milsom Wilke as they described getting
technology through the stacks below into the 100-year old desks. We
then docked a laptop computer to the library's ethernet backbone at one
of the enabled ports.
