AIA NY submitted testimony on the rezoning of Manhattanville at a joint meeting of the Zoning and Franchises Subcommittee and the Planning, Dispositions, & Concessions Subcommittee of the City Council. AIA NY and the Historic Buildings Committee sent a letter to the Landmarks Preservation Commission urging that they investigate the designation of a South Village Historic District and the designation of 233-237 Bleecker Street, pursuant to a report by the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation. AIA NY submitted testimony outlining principles for the development of Moynihan Station and the new Madison Square Garden at a hearing on the release of the initial Empire State Development Corporation scoping document. AAIA NY delivered testimony at the City Planning Commission on the rezoning of the former Con Edison site on the East Side. The site is being developed by the East River Realty Company, and the design team includes SOM and Field Operations. The bill (still in the drafting phase) relates to communication between the Landmarks Preservation Commission and the Department of Buildings, and seeks to regulate grandfathered building permits on landmarked properties.
