AIA joins AmeriCorps for Community Service Day: "Getting Green Done"

Saturday, 05/09/2009, 9:00am–5:00pm
AIANY will bring a group of volunteer architects, recent graduates, and students to conduct a design charette using the Thomas Jefferson Recreation Center as a case study. We will look at the building and its surroundings and have a brainstorming session to make the recreation center sustainable, with the ultimate goal of bringing it off the grid completely. The outcome will be a set of initiatives that will be given to the Parks Department and Mayor’s office to show what architects can do to green NYC!

Registration: 9:00 to 10:00 - all volunteers are invited to hear our Mayor and Governor kick-off AmeriCorps week
Opening program: 10:00 to 11:00
Lunch: 11:00 to 12:30
Service Sections: 12:30 to 4:30
Organized by: AIANY ENYA, AIANY COTE, and the AIANY NBAU Program
Location: Thomas Jefferson Park

"AIA Green Team" - meet at Thomas Jefferson Recreation Center at 2200 First Avenue (between E 112th street and E. 114th street)
