| Earth Day symposium: Park Design for the 21st CenturyTuesday, 04/22/2008, 12:30–5:00pm Presentations by prominent professionals will illuminate cutting-edge strategies for creating high performance landscapes. New techniques and innovative designs presented will likely become case studies for our upcoming publication, High Performance Landscape Guidelines, to be published in partnership with the NYC Dept. of Parks and Recreation. The High Performance Landscape Guidelines will be the third in a trilogy of sustainable design manuals published by the Design Trust and the City of New York. The Design Trust's previous publications, High Performance Building Guidelines (1999) and High Performance Infrastructure Guidelines (2005) set the stage for a paradigm shift in the way New York City is constructed and managed. These publications led to the enactment of local laws that encourage high performance construction, and paved the way for the city's recent sustainability initiatives.
