Learning from Bob & Denise Trailer Screening

Trailer screening of Learning from Bob & Denise, a film created by 2007 Arnold W. Brunner award winner Jim Venturi.

Learning from Bob and Denise is an upcoming feature-length documentary exploring the complex and contradictory world of the architects, Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown.

Filemaker Jim Venturi will be present to introduce the film and discuss the film after the screening.

Husband and wife partners, Venturi and Scott Brown are widely considered among the most influential designers of the 20th century. Alternately vilified and idolized many times over in the course of their careers, theirs is a story that is part biography, part art history and part sociological survey of the past half century.

The Arnold W. Brunner grant is awarded annually by the Center for Architecture Foundation in recognition of advanced study in any area of architectural investigation which will effectively contribute to the knowledge, teaching or practice of the art and science of architecture.

Introduction by Frederic Schwartz, FAIA
Founder and owner of Frederic Schwartz Architects, an internationally recognized architecture and urban planning firm, he designed original memorials for the victims from Westchester County, NY and New Jersey who died in September 11 terrorist attacks.

Schwartz was profiled in The New York Times as "The Man Who Listened" and "The Man Who Dared the City to THINK Again" for his post-9/11 work with the families of the innocent victims. He taught Harvard's only post-Katrina course: "Cities in Crisis: New Orleans" and is currently involved in Global Green's affordable housing initiative in Holy Cross.
